Cargill Philippines and Jollibee joint venture appoints first female country director

Poultry producer Cargill Joy Poultry Meats Production Inc (C-Joy), a joint venture between Cargill Philippines and fast-food giant Jollibee Foods Corp (JFC), has appointed its first female country director, Mija Darlene Cachapero, signalling a renewed focus on responsible business practices, Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
C-Joy is prioritising safe and sustainable poultry production under Cachapero's leadership.Cachapero emphasised the company's commitment to nourishing Filipinos in a safe, sustainable, and responsible manner, rooted in Cargill's core values of prioritising people's safety.
With a background from Ateneo de Manila University and the Yale School of Management, Cachapero is determined to uphold the highest standards in chicken cultivation at the company's poultry processing facility in Batangas, contributing to the nation's food security goals.
Customer-centricity remains a key focus for C-Joy, with plans to leverage consumer insights and innovation capabilities to co-create solutions that address customer needs and challenges effectively.
Expanding its product portfolio under the Tip-Top Chicken brand, C-Joy aims to introduce a comprehensive range of poultry products, from nuggets to patties, tocino, and roast chicken, catering to diverse consumer preferences.
While initially concentrated in Calabarzon, C-Joy is now expanding its retail presence across Metro Manila and adjacent provinces, tapping into the burgeoning market of small grocery stores.
With a production capacity of 50 million birds annually at its Batangas facility, C-Joy is poised to meet the growing demand for poultry products, driven by the projected 4 to 5 percent growth of the sector.
To ensure sustainable growth, C-Joy is strengthening its supply chain by enhancing partnerships with farmers and optimizing plant operations, while also exploring opportunities to tap into new markets in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
In alignment with its parent company Cargill Philippines' commitment to sustainability, C-Joy is investing US$2.6 million in various farm projects aimed at advancing agricultural practices and environmental protection, underscoring its long-standing mission to nourish the world responsibly.
