Ukraine to produce 1.45 million tonnes of chicken in 2020

Tymofiy Mylovanov, Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture said the country will become a global chicken meat production leader in terms of growth this year, reported UNIAN Information Agency.

The minister cites the Index Mundi analytical agency, adding that data showed Ukraine's chicken meat production annual growth rate will be 8.61% or 1.45 million tonnes in total.

According to the minister, Ukraine is traditionally a farm produce top exporter. He said the country is biggest vegetable oil exporter, second biggest barley exporter in the world and fourth in exporting maize. He also said the country is among the top ten global exporters of butter, oilseed and wheat.

For poultry, Ukraine is seventh in the world, he said.

Data from the Ukraine State Statistics Service showed 1 million tonnes of fresh and frozen poultry and by-products were produced by Ukrainian agribusinesses in 2019.
