Pakistan's 2011 wheat exports reach US$680 million
Pakistan earns US$679.9 million from 2.09 million tonnes of wheat exports in 2010-11, according to The National Assembly on Thursday (Feb 9).
"Wheat was exported to Bangladesh, Yemen, Kenya, Sri Lanka, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Philippines, Afghanistan, Sudan, Australia, Djibouti, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jordan, Madagascar, Myanmar, O. Asia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, U.R. of Tanzania and Vietnam," said Federal Minister for Commerce.
"Wheat was exported at international prices for the benefit of the grower," he said, adding that the government was committed to pay good price to the tillers for their agriculture products or species.
The minister also declined reports about awarding contract to a trading company for import of wheat during the years 2009-10 and 2010-11.
