Nepal's Sunsari district confirms bird flu infection
Nepal's Sunsari district administration has directed not to sell chickens in the district till Saturday (Feb 11) after the confirmation of bird flu infection in the poultry farms of the said district.
Besides meat, the administration has also prohibited sell and purchase of eggs.
More than 2,300 chickens were culled on Monday from Khanar-based poultry farm in Sunsari.
The disease spread to two separate farms in Itahari. All the chickens of a farm have died of the disease and the authorities had only cleansed the farm.
With the confirmation of disease from UK-based laboratory as well, the authorities had banned import and export of chickens in the district earlier.
