DuPont sees double-digit earnings gain for its agri-business 

DuPont Co. (DD) said its Agriculture & Nutrition business segment is on track to deliver double-digit percentage earnings growth in 2008 and for the forseeable future.

The Wilmington, Del., science company said Tuesday (February 13, 2008) it developed a new insect control system, Optimum AcreMax, for its seed corn line and also created a new platform of soy technology to increase yield by 40 percent during the next decade.

DuPont plans to launch a second seed corn brand, BioGene, in Brazil through its Pioneer Hi-Bred unit.

The company said the insect control system could be released as early as 2009.
