Argentina corn sales move up this week
Argentina's export commitments of 2006/07 corn rose slightly to 14.15 million tonnes by February 8, up from the previous week's 14 million tonnes, the Agriculture Secretariat said in a weekly report.
Argentina sold 8.585 million tonnes of corn this period last year.
Officials said that additional sales of 144,000 tonnes of corn will go to unspecified destinations.
The government estimated the corn harvest that ended last August at a record 21.8 million tonnes, while the USDA forecasts the country's 2006/07 exports at 15.3 million tonnes.
The Agriculture Secretariat provided the following list of estimated sales commitments to date, in tonnes, compared with last year:
