China Methionine: Export surges 80% in 2021, imports stay flat

According to customs statistics, between January and December 2021, China imported a total of 204,000 tonnes of dl-methionine products, a slight decrease of 1% year-on-year. The top three countries shipping methionine to China were Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.
Meanwhile, China's methionine export volume in 2021 totalled 88,600 tonnes, a sharp increase of 39,033 tonnes or 79% compared with 2020. The top five exporting countries were Germany, Brazil, Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan, with a volume of 18,662 tonnes, 8,101 tonnes, 7,176 tonnes, 4,879 tonnes, and 4,202 tonnes, respectively.
