Philippines bans Czech Republic poultry products due to bird flu

The Department of Agriculture imposed a temporary ban on the import of poultry products and wild birds from the Czech Republic, which has declared a H5N8 bird flu outbreak, reported GMA News.

The temporary ban also includes Czech Republic poultry meat, day old chicks, eggs, and semen.

A stop order has been issued to shipments of the banned products from the Czech Republic by the Department of Agriculture's veterinary quarantine officers and inspectors at major ports.

The ban has been imposed following a World Organisation for Animal Health report on a H5N8 bird flu inStepanov nad Svratkou, Zdar nad Sazavou, Vysocina, Czech Republic.

A similar temporary ban has been imposed on Poland due to the H5N8 bird flu outbreak in that country.
