Vietnam's top 20 pangasius (tra fish) exporters generated US$1.07 billion in sales in 2012.
Vinh Hoan Corp remained the largest company with total revenue of US$154.9 million. It was followed by Hung Vuong Corp with US$111.9 million and Agifish in third place with US$91.8 million.
Anvifish Co came in fourth with US$82. 8 million, followed by IDI Corp with US$58.2 million, and Navico with US$58.1 million. In seventh place, NTSF Seafoods sold US$50.2 million worth of pangasius abroad, and in eighth place came HungCa Co with US$43.5 million.
In ninth place was Dathaco with US$43.2 million and in 10th place CL-Fish Corp with US$42.7 million.
In December 2012, Vietnam's tra export value fell by 13.1% from the same month of 2011. In 2012, Vietnam earnings from exports fell by 3.4% to US$1.74 billion.
The EU imported US$34.16 million worth of pangasius in December 2012, a drop of 14.6% and constituting 23.1% of the market. For 2012, it imported US$425.8 million, falling by 19.1% and taking up 24.4% of the market.
In December, the US imported US$22.98 million worth of tra, taking up 15.6% of sales and down 38.3%. In 2012, it bought for US$358.9 million, up 8.2% and taking up 10.6% of sales.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) imported US$9.2 million worth of tra in December, taking up 6.1% of the market, up 6.8%. In 2012, it bought US$110 million worth of tra, down 0.4% and taking up 6.3% of sales.
Mexico imported US$11.2 million worth of Vietnamese tra, taking up 7.6% of sales and down 39.9% on-year. For 2012, imports hit US$101.5 million, falling 6.9%, and taking up 5.8% of the market.
In December, Brazil followed with US$11 million in imports, up 6% and taking up 7.5% of sales. In 2012, sales hit US$79 million, dropping 6.4% and taking up 4.5% of the market.
