Russia's 2004 wheat exports down 38.6% on the year

 

Russia exported 4.672 million metric tons of wheat and meslin in 2004, 38.6% less than in 2003, according to the state customs committee.

 

The cash value of the export fell 31.5% to $536 million.

 

Wheat exported to countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States was 3.683 million tons, worth $408.1 million. Exports to CIS states were 989,000 tons, worth $127.9 million.

 

Russia's 2003 grain harvest was 67.2 million tons in clean weight, 22.4% down on 2002.
