Iraq buys 100,000 tonnes of Australian wheat
The Iraqi Grain Board bought a total of 100,000 tonnes of Australian wheat for April's delivery, reported Dow Jones Newswires on Thursday (Feb 9).
Hassan Ismail Ibrahim said that the Australian wheat was bought from Glencore International PLC at US$349.75 a tonne C&F.
The new wheat purchase was the result of a tender which closed February 5.
Last time Iraq purchased wheat was in December when it bought some 400,000 tonnes of Canadian, Russian and Australian wheat.
Iraq has also issued a new tender to buy a minimum of 50,000 tonnes of wheat. The new tender is closing February 19.
Iraq consumes between 3.5 million and 4 million tonnes of wheat a year mostly supplied through imports.
