Ukraine January Corn Exports Up 40%

 

Ukraine increased its corn exports in January by 39.8% on the month to 66,900 metric tons, the ProAgro market analyst said in a report in Kiev Monday.

 

The largest exports were 31,380 tons to Romania, 17,440 tons to Greece and 9,940 tons to Italy. Smaller amounts were also exported to Bulgaria and Iraq.

 

In the current marketing year (July-June) Ukraine exported to date 400,000 tons of corn.

 

Ukraine harvested in 2003 6.9 million tons of corn, compared with 4.17 million tons in 2002.

 

Ukraine's grain producers' association estimates corn exports in the 2003- 2004 marketing year at about one million tons.
