Bird flu still present in four locations in Ukraine's Crimea
Despite all the efforts by the government of Ukraine's Crimea Peninsula to eradicate bird flu, the infection still continues to affect poultry and wild birds in four locations in the peninsula, the local government's veterinary department said.
The affected locations are the villages Predmostnoe, Tsvetochnoe and Zolotoe Pole, as well as the large-scale farm Primorsky, near the city of Feodosia.
The current low air temperatures prevent the authorities from burning the carcasses of birds which have died of the infection, as well as disinfecting the feed which carries it. Five hundred tonnes of feed has yet to be disinfected or destroyed.
