Brazil's grain production to hit 284.4 million tonnes in 2021/22

Brazil's total grain production is expected to reach 284.4 million tonnes in the 2021/22 harvest period, an increase of 12.5% or 32 million tonnes, according to data provided by the National Supply Company (Conab).

Conab's fourth estimate for Brazil’s 2021/22 harvest anticipates growth in grain production compared to the 2020/21 harvest.

With a 3.8% growth in cultivated area and an estimated production of 140.5 million tonnes of soybeans, Brazil remains the world's largest producer of the oilseed.

In regards to wheat, the 2021 harvest was completed and production volume totaled 7.7 million tonnes.

The final result was above that obtained in the previous harvest, despite adverse weather conditions, with prolonged periods of drought and the incidence of frosts recorded in part of the cycle, which reduced production potential.
