As agrarians are finishing the spring-field work preparation, Ukrainian producers have prepared 98% or 473,500 tonnes of spring seeds.
Besides, more than 95% of tilthers and 62% of necessary fuel and oil materials have been prepared. This was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
"I would like to emphasise that nowadays the Government and Prime Minister pay much attention to the spring-field work preparation on which the future yield depends. So, 98% or 473,500 tonnes of spring seeds have been prepared. It should be mentioned that besides this amount, there are 9,900 tonnes of spring seeds in the State Reserve Fund. It is paid more attention to the certified seeds which have better quality indexes and better fruitfulness", Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
Thus, it has been prepared 114% of certified seeds by Donetsk region, 107% by each Kherson and Sumy regions. Corn, sunflower and soy seeds are buying. In general, the forecasted index of spring seeds except corn is 102%. The Minister has also mentioned that agrarians are finishing preparation of tilthers and continue to buy fuel and oil materials, fertilisers and protection tools.
"Nowadays Ukraine is provided with fuel and oil materials by 62%. The most prepared regions are Kirovohrad (89%), Kyiv (85%) and Volyn (84%). Speaking about fertilisers, 519,400 tonnes are accumulated. Besides, 4,600 tonnes of plant protection tools have been bought by the agricultural enterprises", Mykola Prysyazhnyuk added.
The Minister has emphasised that one of the important issues is money to provide spring-field work which remains last year's. Agrarian Fund work contributes a lot. It has made forward contract on 775,000 tonnes of 2013 grain and has paid UAH492 million (US$61 million) or 50% in advance. State Intervention Fund formation is the priority direction of the Ministry of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and Agrarian Fund. That is why the Government has given an order to continue grain forward contracts conclusions.
