San Miguel re-explores Negros Occidental, Philippines, for investment in new feed mill
San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is again looking into Negros Occidental, the Philippines, as among the areas in the country to invest in a ₱21 billion (US$384.1 million) feed mill and poultry related projects, said Govenor Eugenio Jose Lacson last month.
The development came after Negros Occidental 1st District Rep. Gerardo Valmayor had a meeting with SMC chief executive officer and president Ramon Ang, Lacson said.
Valmayor recently accompanied SMC officials during a courtesy visit to Lacson at the provincial capitol in Bacolod City. According to Lacson, the officials were provided data required for the project, should they eventually decide to invest in Negros Occidental.
SMC, through its food and beverage unit, plans to build 12 poultry mega-plants in the Philippines, with each facility able to produce 80 million birds yearly, according to Ang.
