Ohio, US sees 4% drop in beef cattle figures
Cattle and calves in Ohio, US, were estimated at 1.23 million head in January 2013, a 4% drop from 2012.
According to the latest numbers from the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service in Ohio, beef cows, at 290,000 head, were down 3% from last year, and milk cows, at 270,000 head, were unchanged from last year.
All cattle and calves in the US as of January 1, 2013, totalled 89.3 million head, 2% below the 90.8 million on January 1, 2012.
