China methionine market weakens further on subdued demand

Prices of methionine continued to drop during the week ending February 5.

Sales of poultry feed and hence methionine was slow as farmers limited buying while the prices of eggs weakened.

Feed millers were not motivated to stockpile methionine inventories as poultry feed sales were sluggish. With export orders shrinking, methionine producers cut prices further in efforts to stimulate buying interest.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine slid to the range of RMB20.20-20.80/kg, falling by RMB0.50-1.50/kg.

RMB1=US$0.1590 (Feb 6)
