US to discuss beef issue with South Korea
The US and South Korean officials could meet later this week to discuss South Korea's beef quarantine procedures.
The two countries would discuss South Korea's rejection of American beef shipments claiming they contained bone fragments, according to a report by the Associated Press.
South Korea has rejected all three shipments of US beef sent since lifting a three-year ban earlier this year. The ban was imposed over concerns relating to BSE. The US said the bone fragments discovered were very tiny and it was difficult to separate such tiny fragments in large shipments.
