Pakistan To Buy 6,000 MT Soymeal From India
Pakistani traders will buy 6,000 metric tons of soymeal from India at $265 a metric ton, an Indian soy industry official said Friday.
"Pakistani traders will buy three shipments of Indian soymeal of 2,000 tons each. The deal was clinched over the past few days," the official said.
India will deliver the 6,000 tons soymeal to Pakistan by train.
Trade ties between the two estranged neighbors - India and Pakistan - have improved in recent months amid peace overtures by the governments on both sides.
India's soymeal exports have been badly hit by the outbreak of bird flu in several countries in the region, especially in Southeast Asia - home to the major buyers of Indian soymeal.
