JBS USA injects US$200 million into US beef production plants

JBS USA is investing US$200 million into two major projects in the United States, specifically, at its Cactus, Texas, and Greeley, Colorado beef production plants.

Through the investment, the company is adding a new, state-of-the-art fabrication floor and expanded ground beef room at the Cactus facility as well as a new distribution center at the Greeley location. Construction will begin in 2025.

"We believe now is the time to invest in the United States, and we are excited about what the future holds," said Wesley Batista Filho, chief executive officer of JBS USA. "Today's announcement demonstrates our commitment to the US beef industry and the American farmer and rancher. At JBS, we prioritise ongoing investments in our facilities to ensure our company and the rural areas where we live and work are positioned for success now and in the future."

The investments will improve efficiencies at each facility and offer the potential for increased production capacity in the future.

JBS's Cactus facility employs over 3,700 team members and partners with several cattle producers, paying US$2.9 billion for livestock every year. ‌JBS's Greeley facility employs over 3,800 team members and partners with approximately 175 producers, paying US$3.1 billion for livestock every year.

Since 2020, JBS has poured more than US$15 million into the Cactus and Greeley communities through its Hometown Strong and Better Futures programmes.

Investments have helped fund an aquatic center, baseball fields, park renovations, a food bank truck, STEM labs in local schools, various nonprofit organisations, and affordable housing developments, among other things.

Through Better Futures, over 500 Cactus and Greeley team members and their children have signed up for the company's tuition-free community college assistance programme. More than 30 students have graduated since the initiative launched in 2021.
