Philippines bans poultry from Spain and Croatia due to bird flu

The Philippines' Department of Agriculture has imposed a temporary ban on poultry imports from Spain and Croatia after highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza was detected in those countries, Business World reported.

The ban includes poultry products such as poultry meat, day old chicks, eggs and semen.

Spain's Laboratorio Central de Veterinaria de Algete and the Croatian Veterinary Institute-Poultry Centre confirmed the bird flu outbreaks.

Poultry products from Spain will be allowed to enter the Philippines if they were produced or slaughtered before December 30, 2021.
