Pork, chicken, and egg prices in Thailand expected to fall

 

 

Thailand's Department of Internal Trade said it expects prices of pork, chicken, and egg to fall after Chinese New Year ends, the Nation Thailand reported.

 

Watthanasak Sua-iam, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, said the general price should fall to THB 170 – 180 (~US$5.15 – 5.46; THB 10 = US$0.30) per kg from THB 220 (~US$6.67). Prices hit their peak of THB 300 (~US$9.09) during Chinese New Year.

 

He said wholesale swine prices are expected to drop below THB 100 (~US$3.03). The rising prices of pork in Thailand has led to the Thai government facing criticism from the public and the opposition.

 

He also said chicken prices are expected to fall to THB 65 – 82 (~US$1.97 – 2.49). per kg, while eggs (no. 3 size) will drop to THB 100 (~US$3.03) for a 30 egg pack.
