Hemp Inc reports benefits of using hemp byproducts as livestock feed

US-based Hemp Inc said in a press release that the byproducts that remain after harvesting hemp can be used as livestock feed for ruminants, which are inexpensive and have several benefits such as complete protein, omega-3, and mega-6 fatty acids.

The byproducts of hemp, which includes its leaves, fodder, and residual plant fibres, can be consumed by ruminants like cattle, sheep, and goats because of their digestive system.

The US Congress made it legal to grow hemp through the 2018 Farm Bill. However, hemp as a feed ingredient has not been approved by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) or the FDA Centre for Veterinary Medicine.

Hemp growers are petitioning the US government to approve hemp as livestock feed.
