14,000 turkeys culled in Germany after new bird flu case confirmed in Brandenburg, Germany

Brandenburg, Germany's state government said it has culled about 14,000 turkeys after type H5N8 bird flu was detected on a farm in the state in the Uckermark area, the third outbreak of the virus in recent weeks, Reuters reported.

Bird flu outbreaks have been confirmed in Germany and other European countries for the past few months, believed to be spread by migratory wild birds.

Sweden's Board of Agriculture said in late-January that it planned to cull 1.3 million chickens after bird flu was detected on a farm in the country.
