China 2008 oilseeds production to return to 2006 level

China's oilseeds production this year will return to 2006's level following central government measures to encourage crop growth, Xinhua News Agency reported Saturday.

China's edible vegetable oil consumption in 2007 was around 22.5 million tonnes, Xinhua also said, citing an unnamed official at the State Administration of Grain.

The country's total grain production this year will remain around 500 tonnes, barring big natural disasters, it said.
