China VC: Prices 1.5 times higher on-year (week ended Feb 1, 2021)
High costs of corn continued to lend support to vitamin C market. With production limited and overseas demand strong, producers lifted prices further, albeit modestly Compared with a year ago, vitamin C raw powder prices have surged 150% from historic low levels to levels unseen since May 2018.
In the local market, 99% raw powder vitamin C prices surged to the range of RMB44.20-55/kg.
Vitamin C availability is poised to remain tight due to low corn supply in China. Even as sales slow in the coming weeks due to the approaching of Chinese New Year holidays, producers will continue to stand firm n prices.
