Ukraine will resow at least 30% winter crop land

Ukraine will have to plant again at least 30% of the sowing areas of winter crops this year, stated Ivan Tomich, President of the Union of agricultural servicing cooperatives.

According to him, the general production of winter wheat will total less than 15 million tonnes. At the same time, if May be rather dry period, the production volumes may be less than 10 million tonnes.

Tatyana Adamenko, Head of the agricultural meteorology department of the Hydrometeorological Center, noted that nearly 30-35% of winter crops sowings in Ukraine are not covered with a layer of snow, and these areas may potentially be lost due to frosts.
