Another bird flu case confirmed in South Korea, 83 total cases in the country

South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has confirmed the 83rd case of highly pathogenic bird flu on an egg farm in Anseong, 77 km south of Seoul, Yonhap News Agency reported.

All poultry within 3 km of the infected farm were culled to prevent the spread of the virus.

24.8 million poultry have been culled since the first case was detected in late November, which has resulted in prices rising for poultry-related products.

There are also 125 bird flu cases among wild birds in the country.

In 2018, South Korea amended its anti-animal disease law to cull all poultry within 3 km of an infected farm after the country reported 340 H5N8 bird flu cases between October 2016 and January 2017 traced to poultry farms.
