Ukraine grain exports up 29%; imports up 2%

 


In December 2009, Ukrainian grain imports rose 1.8% on-year to 6,720 tonnes for US$3.57 million, while exports grew 28.5% or 558,630 tonnes to 2.52 million tonnes for US$373.41 million.


Grain imports in December fell 2.9% or 200 tonnes compared to November. In 2009, grain imports fell by 16.6% or 19,080 tonnes to 96,080 tonnes for US$98.53 million, compared with 2008.


Compared to November, grain exports during December increased 8.8% or 203,310 tonnes. For the full 2009 year, grain exports rose 59.6% or 9.6 million tonnes to 25.7 million tonnes for US$3,556.14 million year-on-year.
