Russia suspends beef imports from Ukrainian plant

Russia has suspended beef imports from Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk meat packaging plant.

Radioactivity on caesium in the plant's beef was found to exceed the norms, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, or Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision.

Beef imports from the plant will not be allowed after February 6, but any shipments before that will be allowed as normal.

The territorial offices are collecting samples for laboratory examinations on detection of hazardous substances from each batch of imported products from the Ivano-Frankivsk plant in compliance with instructions from Rosselkhoznadzor.
