20,000 turkeys to be culled in Germany due to bird flu

German authorities said about 20,000 turkeys will be culled after H5N8 bird flu was confirmed on a poultry farm in the Ludwigslust-Parchim area, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state, Reuters reported.

Germany and several European countries have reported a series of bird flu outbreaks in the past few months, with wild birds believed to be spreading the virus.

Sweden's Board of Agriculture said they are set to cull 1.3 million chickens after bird flu was detected on a farm in the country.
