China's Shandong to raise grain output capacity this year
For 2012, East China's Shandong province, a major grain growing area in the country, has set a goal to expand its grain output facility by more than 500,000 tonnes, according to the provincial government on Monday (Jan 30).
Meanwhile, the province will try to expand the planting area for cotton and peanut crops to ensure supply of staple farm products.
Shandong produced 44.25 million tonnes of grain last year, accounting for about 8% of China's total grain production of 571.21 million tonnes.
