China reports FMD in Xinjiang
China has confirmed a new case of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in north-western Xinjiang province, the Ministry of Agriculture said.
Six cattle were found sick in Akesu District Jan 23 and were confirmed to have the disease Saturday (Jan 27), according to a statement published on the ministry's website.
Seventy-three cattle and sheep were slaughtered as a result of the outbreak, and the situation is now under control, it said.
