Beijing cracks down on illegal fresh meat
Beijing continues with its two-month "Midnight Action" to crack down on illegal fresh meat distribution in all districts of Beijing, which begun on Dec 5 last year, the USDA reported quoting the China Food Newspaper.
Illegal wholesale meat business is normally conducted after midnight along roadsides, outside large wet markets, or in illegally rented houses.
Problems include lack of compliance with food safety requirements and quality standards, including injection with water to increase weight.
