Russia to allow imports of US pork soon

Russia's federal food quality watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor will allow the importation of pork and pork sub-products from the US from Feb 1, Rosselkhoznadzor announced Wednesday.

Pork supplies will be allowed for both industrial processing and for direct sale.

Pork can be imported from all slaughter houses, meat-processing enterprises and refrigerators included in a list, approved Nov 29, 2005, of the companies which are allowed to export pork to Russia.

Rosselkhoznadzor also said six more companies had been included in the list, without naming them.
