US firm recalls beef due to E.coli contamination

A Batesville, US firm has decided to recall more than 4,000 pounds of ground beef products for fear of E. coli contamination.

The Natural State Meat Company said it was recalling products including one to 25-pound bags labelled "Meacham Packing Company hamburger" and one to 10-pound bags labelled "Meacham Packing Company, ground beef chuck", according to the USDA reports.

A routine microbiologic check of the beef found the possible E. coli contamination.

The recalled beef was produced between Jan 19-26 and was distributed to retail stores in Independence County. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service has however, received no reports of illnesses associated with the beef.
