Bosnia and Herzegovina's wheat production up 7.2%

 

 

Wheat production in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) rose by 7.2% in 2012 compared to the previous year and 11.2% for rye.

 

This is according to the statistics by the BiH Agency for Statistics.

 

Yield reduction was recorded in all other crops and especially in corn by 29.4%, buckwheat for 27.8%, rapeseed by 63.3%, potatoes for 27.3%, carrots by 33.8%, beans for 20.9%, alfalfa by 20.4% and fodder beet by 45.3%.

 

In BiH in 2012 52.2% of arable land was sown, 26% of forage crops, 15% of vegetables and 2% for industrial crops, according to statistics from the BiH Agency for Statistics.

 

The harvested area for wheat last year was higher for 4% than in 2011, rye by 4.9%, soy by 37.1%, tobacco by 6.1%, garlic by 6.3%, peas by 7.8% and corn under the stern by 7.7%.

 

The harvested area for barley decreased by 1.4%, buckwheat by 3.4%, oil by 59.2% and fodder beet by 28.2% in comparison to 2011.
