Selko presents 2024 Global Mycotoxin Review
Selko, Nutreco's feed additives brand, is sharing findings from its 2024 Global Mycotoxin Review(https://selko.conclusionevents.nl/) during a live webinar on Thursday, 6 February.
The webinar is free of charge and will be presented in English and Spanish versions. Dr. Swamy Haladi, Global Technical Commercial Manager for mycotoxin risk management will present the English language session from 9 am to 10 am CET and Dr. Daniel Miranda, Commercial Technical Manager (Americas), will present the Spanish language session from 4 pm to 5 pm CET.
Drawing on more than 86,000 analyses representing 45 countries, the review will share global mycotoxin trends and provide insights to support farms' and feed mills' safety and quality assurance objectives. Presenters will review analysis of the "Big 6" mycotoxins - Aflatoxins (AFLA), Ochratoxin A (OCHRA), T-2/HT-2 toxin (T2HT2), Fumonisins (FUM), Deoxynivalenol (DON), and Zearalenone (ZEA) (Table 1.)
Experts in mycotoxin management will expand on the review's findings to address some of the most prevalent questions posed by stakeholders across today's feed-to-food chain, including:
- What were the primary changes affecting global mycotoxin contamination in 2024;
- How do changes observed in 2024 samples compare to those noted in previous years;
- What mycotoxins are becoming more problematic to manage;
- How should mitigation strategies be adapted in various production regions;
- What key takeaways from the 2024 analysis can producers make use of in 2025?
Previewing a few findings that will be expanded upon during the webinar, Dr. Haladi said that the 2024 analysis found 66% of samples tested positive for ZEA, followed by DON (58%), T2HT2 (56%) and FUM (54%). Looking at maximum concentration levels, 500,000 ppb was observed in DON followed by 24,435 ppb for FUM (Table 2.).
The annual Global Mycotoxin Review aims to help farms and feed mills make meaningful adjustments to their mitigation strategies.
"The review will look at how last year's raw material quality might have affected animal health and performance in 2024 and also suggests potential challenges that stakeholders may expect in the year ahead as they plan their mitigation strategies," Dr. Haladi stated.
