The Philippines partners with Denmark to boost swine and fisheries sectors

The Philippines' Department of Agriculture has partnered with Denmark through Franz-Michael Mellbin, ambassador of Denmark to the Philippines and Palau, to explore areas of collaboration for enhancing the productivity and sustainability of the swine and fisheries sectors, Manila Times reported.

Domingo Panganiban, senior undersecretary of the Philippines' Department of Agriculture, emphasised the possibility of importing semen from Denmark, which would help the Philippines combat African swine fever outbreaks in the country.

Paul Limson, the director of the Philippines' Bureau of Animal Industry, assured that current Philippine importation and quarantine regulations are being issued for local and imported semen.

Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating to share knowledge and explore opportunities for researching cutting-edge technologies for effective swine production.

Denmark has also expressed interest in investigating the Philippines' fishing opportunities and has offered to help the Philippines develop innovative, sustainable fishing techniques and technologies.
