Dairy company Meiji in talks to establish Japanese-Bulgarian dairy R&D centre

Major Japanese dairy company Meiji Holdings Co said it is in talks to establish a Japanese-Bulgarian dairy research and development (R&D) centre for developing new dairy products, SeeNews reported.

Hiroshi Tachibana, Meiji's public relations officer, said the company is unable to provide more information on the collaboration as discussions are still in the early stages.

According to a recent announcement by the Bulgarian economy ministry, Meiji and the country's state-owned dairy producer LB Bulgaricum will collaborate on the planned R&D centre.

LB Bulgaricum announced earlier this month that it would invest at least BGN 5 million (~US$2.7 million; 1 BGN = US$0.56) to increase its market share in 2023.
