Fire at poultry farm in Pangasinan, Philippines, kills 35,000 chickens

A fire razed a poultry farm in Pangasinan, the Philippines, killing 35,000 chickens and causing an estimated ₱40 million (approximately $705,000) in damages.

The fire reportedly started in one of the buildings in the farm located in Barangay Gueset, Bugallon, and spread quickly.

Farm employees reported hearing electrical sparks before noticing thick smoke. Attempts to extinguish the flames using fire extinguishers failed as the fire grew rapidly.

Only one chicken survived the blaze.

The Bureau of Fire Protection suspected an electrical short circuit caused the fire.
