Vietnam, China sign agreement on seafood and fishmeal safety supervision
Vietnam and China have set up special working groups to deal with inspection and quarantine procedures of agricultural, fish and forestry products imported and exported between the two countries.
During the visit of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) to China, the ministry and China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) signed two important agreements, including a deal on supervision of food safety on aquatic products, and a memorandum of understanding on technology cooperation and information exchange in fishmeal and fish fat for animal feed production.
The agreement also stated the enhancement of information exchange on food safety management and the supervision system of both countries, while working closely in organising related conferences in 2014. China was also added to a list of countries authorised for export of agricultural products of plant origin to Vietnam.
