Japan seeks to import Bulgarian poultry meat
Japan is interested in importing poultry meat from Bulgaria, Agriculture and Food Minister Miroslav Naydenov said, in the midst of having an enormous shortage of poultry meat on the market.
Japan is currently again the target of avian influenza. Within days that country is expected to pass a decision on allowing Bulgarian poultry products on its market. The sanitary product files are currently being processed by the National Veterinary Service in Bulgaria and are to be sent to Japan.
Naydenov also offered his Japanese counterpart Bulgarian white brine cheese and yellow cheese, not only the yoghurt popular in that country. The National Veterinary Service is to send product files for these too.
Michihiko Kano explained that, for 20 years now, his day begins with a can of Bulgarian yoghurt. He was invited to visit Bulgaria and acquaint himself with the production of the typical Bulgarian cheeses on the spot.
Japanese business is interested in cooperation with Bulgarian companies as they want to use Bulgarian raw materials for the production of goods with which they can make a breakthrough on the European market, Naydenov added.
