French farms required to designate reference person overseeing animal welfare

As of January 1, 2022, all farms in France that house domestic animals, as well as domesticated or captive wild animals, must designate a reference person in charge of animal welfare.

This new mandate is accompanied by an obligation to train these persons on pig and poultry farms. The reference persons in these industries will have to take a training course certified and endorsed by the Vivéa and OCAPIAT organisations. These establishments will guarantee the quality of the contents and speakers.

The designated reference persons on pig and poultry farms will have six months from January 1, 2022 to start a training course and will have 18 months to complete it.
