Cobb and Sasso ink partnership at IPE
A joint partnership between US broiler breeder supplier, Cobb and French poultry breeder Sasso, was announced at the International Poultry Exposition (IPE) in Atlanta, Georgia this week.
The partnership will develop, produce, sell and market Cobb Sasso coloured bird and speciality breeding stock in specific global markets.
The Memorandum of Understanding, signed by managing director of Cobb Europe, Steve Parsons, and executive director of Sasso, Louis Perrault, establishes an agreement to produce and market speciality products for the semi-industrial, certified free range and organic sectors.
The agreement would promote sales of the parent stock of coloured bird and speciality products in Europe and grandparent stock in markets elsewhere.
This would allow both Cobb and Sasso to expand their product range and consolidate their strengths as suppliers of alternative genetic stock.
Sasso, based in Sabres in South West France, was established 30 years ago by the leading French Label Rouge poultry producers and is now a world leading breeder of traditional farm poultry, well known for its coloured breed selection.
Cobb, based in Siloam Springs, Arkansas in the US is the leading primary broiler supplier which distributes chicken breeders to more than 70 countries.
Cobb announced two weeks ago it is teaming up with Hendrix Genetics to strengthen their position in the broiler breeder industry. In the agreement Cobb-Vantress acquired Hybro from Hendrix Genetics in exchange for preferred stock. They are also looking into a joint venture in which all or part of the activities may be combined in future.
