Denmark positive on cloned meat

Danish Food Minister Eva Kjer Hansen has expressed her readiness to welcome the sale of cloned meat within EU if cloned meat are proven to be consumption-safe.

However, Hansen emphasised that cloning should be regulated as a production form.

Both the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have announced that meat and dairy products from cloned animals are as safe as meat and dairy products from conventionally bred livestock.
