Argentina's 2004-05 wheat harvest collected
Argentine farmers have finished collecting the 2004-05 wheat harvest, which now stands at a total of 16.3 million metric tons, the Buenos Aires Cereals Exchange reported Monday.
The average yield was 2.74 metric tons per hectare, up 7.5% from a year earlier.
Out of a total planted area of 6.09 million hectares, 5.947 million was harvested according to the exchange. Last year, Argentina planted 5.83 million hectares.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Argentina Agriculture Secretariat have made similar forecast for the country's 2004-05 wheat output at 16 million tons.
