President of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Association Alex Lissitsa has said that Ukraine's grain and meat prices will increase in the second half of 2012.
"Prices for grain will rise in the second half of 2012. The same concerns pork and other meat products. After all, if the price of grain grows, then, respectively, the price of meat will also grow. It is unlikely that prices for milk and dairy products will rise, because they are already at the peak - UAH4-4.50 (US$0.50-0.56) per litre," Lissitsa said.
The association earlier stated that the yield of winter wheat in Ukraine in 2012 might drop by 40%.
As reported, the head of the department of agro-meteorology at the Ukrainian Weather Center, Tetiana Adamenko, said that the snowy weather could reduce the area of winter crops, which will have to be reseeded. The reseeding area was projected at 30% in 2012.
