Syria buys 50,000 tonnes of feed barley
Syria's Public Administration for Fodder Monday said it had bought 50,000 tonnes of feed barley from a German company for shipment in two stages.
"The barley was bought at around US$150 per tonne, on a cost and freight basis, but the committee of the administration is meeting today to set the final price," a public administration official told Dow Jones Newswires.
The first shipment--of 25,000 tonnes of barley--is expected to arrive 30 days from the date of purchase, while the remaining 25,000 tonnes would arrive the following month.
Syria last tendered for barley Sep 5 when it asked for 100,000 tonnes, but cancelled the tender stating all offers received had violated the financial conditions stipulated by the administration.
